The choice of suitable materials is a crucial step on the path to the perfect system. The Fraunhofer IOF possesses extensive experience in the analysis and selection of suitable highly-transparent thermoplasts for micro-optical components.
For certain applications, micro-optical elements with high resistance, high laser damage threshold and transparency from the ultraviolet to the infrared spectral range are required. These micro-optical elements can be created from various brittle materials. Brittle materials (e.g. quartz glass, borosilicate glass and silicon) demand special processing technologies.
