At Jena-Paradies station: Train station for most long-distance connections - it is, for example, the final stop for the ICE from Berlin. From here, please take a taxi or use one of the bus connections (see below). Please refer to the Deutsche Bahn website for current timetables and prices.
At Jena-West station, which is the station for most local transport connections if you are coming from Erfurt, Leipzig or similar destinations. From here, please take a taxi or use one of the bus connections (see below). Please refer to the Deutsche Bahn website for current timetables and prices.

Bus connection
(about 20 minutes including the walkway)
From Jena-Paradies station(north-south connection), it takes about 5 minutes to walk to the city center. Take the 10, 11 or 12 bus at the “Teichgraben” stop. Get off at the “Beutenberg Campus” stop and follow the signs.
From Jena-West train station(east-west connection) walk approx. 1 minute to the “Westbahnhofstr.” stop, walk 2 stops and take one of the bus lines 10, 11 or 12. Get off at the “Beutenberg Campus” stop and follow the signs.
Timetables and tickets: Current time table schedules for bus connections can be found at Jena Nahverkehr and multi-trip tickets can be purchased in advance at Deutsche Bahn.
By car
Highway A4 to the Jena-Göschwitz exit. On the B88 federal highway towards the city, turn left towards Winzerla, along Winzerlaer Straße, always follow the signs “Fachhochschule – Beutenberg Campus”. The Fraunhofer IOF is clearly visible on the left-hand side. Use the Beutenberg Campus entrance and follow the signs from there.
By plane
The nearest airport is Leipzig/Hall:
By car: Take the A9 motorway south to the Hermsdorfer Kreuz junction and then change to the A4 motorway in the direction of Frankfurt; leave the A4 at the Jena-Göschwitz exit, then see 'By car'.
By plane: Book a flight to Berlin, Frankfurt am Main or Munich. Then take the domestic flight to Leipzig. From there, please continue by train or car. See above for descriptions.
Erfurt Airport:
By car: Take the A4 motorway in the direction of Dresden until the Jena-Göschwitz exit.
By plane: Book a flight to Berlin, Frankfurt am Main or Munich. Then take the domestic flight to Erfurt. From there, please continue by train or car. See above for descriptions.
Berlin or Frankfurt airport:
By car: Depending on the current traffic situation, it is advisable to use a navigation device. Finally, in Jena, follow the signs to “Fachhochschule - Beutenberg Campus”. The Fraunhofer IOF is then visible on the left-hand side. Use the Beutenberg Campus entrance and from there follow the signs.
By train: Please take a long-distance train such as the ICE or IC in the direction of Erfurt/Leipzig and, according to the recommendations of Deutsche Bahn, use local transport to Jena if necessary. From Berlin, for example, there is a direct ICE connection to Jena Paradies. Get off at Jena-Paradies or Jena-West, depending on the service. From there, please take a taxi or the bus (see above for a description).
