Professional Training Physics Laboratory Technician at Fraunhofer IOF

Be part of the development of technologies for industry, medicine, and science. If you enjoy learning about Physics or the latest technology, performing experiments or if you want to take part in creative development teams, this job is exactly the right one for you.

Tasks: What does a Physics Laboratory Technician do

In your professional training, you are taught to examine the properties of materials and systems by performing experiments and test series. For this purpose, you work on topics regarding Optics and Precision Engineering in our research departments. There you learn about the various process chains and gain insight to different 3D measuring systems and their analysis, lithography and optical microscopy, fiber processing and characterization as well as glass and UP processing of space optics and the respective system building. You practice the assembly of special test systems, and you conduct experiments and measurements which are logged subsequently.

Through your collaboration in current research projects in the fields micro-optics, precision engineering and laser technology, you will gain great/valuable insight into the professional areas of Physics Laboratory Technicians. This prepares you optimally for your future career. From your first day on, you will be supported by a fixed team of trainers and supervisors. You are introduced to your tasks and activities step by step which enables you to perform these tasks individually later on.
