Verification and Validation of Sensors and Systems

Test laboratory for optical and photonic imaging sensors and systems - technical feasibility analyses for small and large measurement volumes as well as testing under experimentally reproducible environmental and application conditions.

In our test laboratory we verify and validate optical and photonic imaging sensors and systems under experimentally reproducible environmental and application conditions. Systems and arrangements for both small and large measurement volumes are available for technical feasibility studies and reference measurements.

Our services

With the help of different systems and components, we can offer you a solution to various questions:

  • Is the selected measurement principle suitable for the application?
  • What measurement results does a sensor deliver under realistic conditions?
  • What performance does a 3D sensor deliver in accordance with VDI2634-II/III?

Equipment and specifications of the test laboratory for the verification and validation of environmental and application conditions as well as carrying out technical feasibility studies.

Mobile 3D measurement system for large measurement volumes

Standard laser scanners can be used to demonstrate the general technical feasibility of 3D shape capture of large measurement volumes. By recording 3D point clouds and 2D panoramic color images, the general suitability of the measurement object for 3D visual inspection and processing can be determined.

Motion capture system for object tracking and recording human movements

Motion capture is a tracking method for capturing and recording movements so that they can be played back on a computer, analyzed, processed and used to control applications.

This can be used for the following applications:

  • Validation of tracking algorithms on the basis of 3D camera data
  • Object tracking in the workspace of people for interaction with robotic systems
  • Calibration of robotic systems
  • Initial value for extrinsic camera calibration of 3D cameras to each other
  • Recording of human movements and their analysis
  • Validation of robotic path planning algorithms
